I’m a freelance theatre photographer based near Watford, covering Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London. With ten years of experience and over 70 productions photographed, I’ve worked with many local amateur theatre groups on a diverse range of shows.
I pride myself on producing a set of high-quality photographs quickly. An initial set of images will be sent the day following the dress rehearsal so that promotion can continue across show week – giving audiences a glimpse of what to expect from the production but crucially avoiding any spoilers! A full set of images will follow a week or two later, once I’ve been able to check and process them to make them look their best. These images can be stored on a secure website, allowing cast members to view and download them without the theatre group having to distribute lots of files.
My theatre images have recently appeared on BBC News, BBC Sounds and Time Out New York.
“Just writing to thank you for the amazing photographs you took last night. They are the best of any show I have been involved with. Amazing work.” Cast Member, Belmont Theatre Company.

My background
My first foray into the world of theatre photography was back in the 1990s with a trip to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a group of young comedy actors. I then did some publicity images for local productions of Hamlet and The Canterbury Tales. After university my career got in the way and although I still enjoyed photography, I didn’t venture back into production photos until a camera club visit to my local amateur dramatics group rehearsing for The Producers in 2015.
I soon remembered just how much I loved the challenge of capturing those important moments on stage and showing the relationship and emotions between characters.
Since then, I’ve been regularly photographing rehearsals for local drama groups.
In the summer of 2023 I turned my hobby into a career, becoming a freelance photographer specialising in theatre and events.
My approach is to get to know the production wherever I can, photographing early rehearsals to see where the key action will be and to build up trust with the cast and director. I’m there to show the production at it’s best in a way that will entice audiences to come and see the show, and so building up that trust and knowing the vision of the director is vital to my success as production photographer.
